A renewable energy developer is hiring a Grid Connections Engineer to manage the connection process across an onshore wind and battery storage pipeline in Scotland and northern England.
You would prepare and submit connection applications, review and negotiate connection offers, manage the relationship with the network operators, and feed grid constraints and costs back into site selection and financial modelling.
The role is fully remote with occasional travel for network operator meetings and internal sessions. Grid is the binding constraint on most UK renewable projects right now, which makes this an unusually influential position.
What you will need
Three or more years working on grid connections, whether developer side, consultancy or at a network operator
Understanding of the connection application process and the current queue reform landscape
Able to read and interrogate a connection offer, including the cost and works detail
Working knowledge of the Grid Code and Distribution Code
Power systems fundamentals and comfort with load flow concepts
Degree in electrical or power systems engineering
Able to travel occasionally for network operator meetings
What is on offer
Salary up to £62,000 depending on experience
