The role
Our client is a payments business at Series C, around 180 people, with an engineering function of roughly sixty split across six product teams. They have outgrown the deployment model they started with and are building a proper internal platform to replace it.
You would join a platform team of five and take technical lead on the migration itself: designing the self-service tooling, moving teams onto it without stopping their delivery, and getting the reliability story to a standard that a regulated payments business needs. The team owns Kubernetes, the CI/CD estate, observability and the developer experience around all of it.
This is a genuinely senior role with real architectural latitude. The engineering leadership are technical, decisions are made close to the work, and there is no separate architecture function handing down designs.
What you will need
Five or more years in platform, infrastructure or SRE roles, with recent production Kubernetes ownership
Strong infrastructure-as-code practice, Terraform preferred
Deep AWS experience across networking, IAM and managed data services
Built or substantially improved CI/CD tooling used by multiple product teams
Comfortable in Go or Python for tooling and automation
Practical observability experience: Prometheus, Grafana, distributed tracing
Experience operating in a regulated environment, or a clear willingness to learn what that requires
Able to lead technical work across teams without formal authority
What is on offer
Salary of £85,000 to £100,000 plus share options
Two days a week in the Farringdon office
£2,000 annual learning budget with time set aside to use it
Private medical and dental cover
Company pension at 7% employer contribution
28 days holiday plus bank holidays and a company shutdown between Christmas and New Year
