Site Reliability Engineer (Contract)
TD-3140
Open
The role
A commercial insurance platform is bringing in an experienced SRE for six months to get their reliability practice into shape ahead of a significant release in the first quarter of next year.
The brief is specific: mature the incident response process, get meaningful SLOs in place across the six most critical services, and work through a backlog of reliability debt that the product teams have not had the space to address. You would work alongside the existing infrastructure team rather than replacing anyone.
Outside IR35. Two days a week in the City office, three from home. Six months with a good chance of extension into the release period itself.
What you will need
Five or more years in SRE or production engineering roles
Demonstrable experience defining and implementing SLOs and error budgets
Strong incident command experience, including running post-incident reviews that change something
Production Kubernetes and Terraform
Observability tooling to an advanced standard, ideally Datadog or the Prometheus stack
Able to work effectively across product teams you do not manage
Available at short notice
What is on offer
£550 to £650 per day, outside IR35
Six-month initial term with likely extension
Two days a week in the office, three remote
Clear, bounded brief with executive sponsorship
Fast contract and onboarding process
