The role
A B2B software business in Manchester is making its first in-house legal hire. Until now everything has gone to external counsel, which has become both slow and expensive as enterprise deal volume has grown.
The role is genuinely broad: enterprise customer contracts and the negotiations that go with them, supplier and partner agreements, data protection and the DPA work that enterprise buyers demand, plus corporate support on funding and, in due course, acquisitions.
You would report to the CFO and have a real hand in shaping how the legal function is built. Salary is competitive and includes a meaningful equity component; we will discuss specifics on a call.
What you will need
Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with three or more years post-qualification
Strong commercial contracts background, ideally including SaaS or technology agreements
Confident negotiating directly with enterprise customer legal teams
Practical UK GDPR knowledge, including DPAs and international transfer mechanics
Comfortable being the only lawyer in the business and prioritising accordingly
Commercially pragmatic rather than risk-averse by default
In-house experience preferred but strong private practice candidates will be considered
What is on offer
Competitive salary, discussed openly at first conversation
Meaningful equity participation
Annual bonus scheme
Two days a week in the Manchester office
Private medical cover
28 days holiday plus bank holidays
